Guide to Removing Ripoff Reports From Google

Any business can paint a beautiful picture in order to convince consumers that they are absolutely amazing, but consumers themselves prefer to hear from those they trust the most–clients and customers who have already used the business’ products or services. This means that good reviews are highly beneficial to a business’ online reputation, and bad reviews are highly detrimental. But how can you remove those reviews that seem specifically designed to destroy your business’ reputation?

Removing Ripoff Reports From Google

Ripoff Reports may state that their intention is to aid consumers in making informed decisions about various businesses, but they require very little verification of claims made and therefore do a lot more to tarnish the reputations of businesses who have no way to fight back. Ripoff Reports is proud of the fact that they never, under any circumstances, remove a report that has been made on their site, even if the author himself requests removal or a court of law determines the report to be false and slanderous. This means that a business can be adversely affected by a false report that ranks very highly in search engine results. That is, unless they take action to remove such reports from Google search results.

When you are able to remove information from showing up in Google search results, it doesn’t mean that the information has been entirely removed from the internet, it just prevents it from showing up on regular web searches. In order to do this, the report needs to be false in some light, and you will need to file a lawsuit against the report’s author for defamation, business disparagement, false light or whatever legally appropriate claim. Obtain a court order that declares that the report is false and defamatory, and present this court order to Google. In most cases Google honors these court orders by removing the report from its search index, which essentially makes it invisible to users who are running general web searches, thereby better protecting your business from false and defamatory information.
